When it makes sense
Most customers build on ShapeDiver themselves. Some would rather not.
ShapeDiver is self-service. If someone on your team knows Grasshopper, you probably don’t need us: start a trial, and use the support that comes with your plan. Our services are for the other cases:

Review and optimization Hourly
We look for the bottlenecks in your Grasshopper definition and fix them, so it computes faster and runs reliably on the platform. We start with a review and tell you how much there is to gain and how many hours it would take. To keep that review quick and reliable, the definition should first follow the best practices in our video tutorials.
Consultation and coaching Hourly packages of 5, 10, or 20 hours
Our computational designers work with your design or manufacturing team, so your team learns to build the right definitions for your products. You book a package and use the hours in sessions as you need them.
Grasshopper development Fixed-price project
We build the definition from the ground up, around your product rules, your pricing logic, and the outputs your workshop needs, and to the standards that make it run well on the platform.
Front-end and API development Fixed-price project
Our developers build the part that connects your definition to your website or app: talking to the ShapeDiver APIs, plus interactions such as animations and clickable or draggable elements. You get it as code your own developers can change and extend. APIs, SDKs & Integrations
Complete configurators Fixed-price project
We build the whole thing: the parametric model, a price that follows the configuration, technical drawings or production files, a custom interface, and connections to your ERP, CRM, or other systems. It can run on your own website, or in your Shopify store with native integration into your Shopify backend.
The price depends on the product’s complexity, the outputs you need, and the integrations. Running the configurator needs a ShapeDiver plan.

How a project works

Exploratory call (free).
You tell us what you’re trying to do. We tell you whether we’re the right fit, whether you need a project at all, and roughly what it would involve.

Specification Stage (€500 to €1,500).
We learn your product in detail and write down exactly what we’ll build. You get a written specification with the final price for the entire project. More below.
- 03
Build (at the price in the specification).
If you go ahead, up to 50% of the Specification Stage price is deducted. We build to the specification, milestone by milestone, and you review as we go.
- 04
Hand-over.
The solution goes live on your ShapeDiver workspace. The definition and any code we wrote are yours, and the code is covered by a 12-month warranty against bugs.
The Specification Stage
Know the full price before you commit
Every project we build starts with a Specification Stage. It’s a short, paid engagement in which we learn your product in detail and write down exactly what we’ll build. Its result is a written specification, and that specification includes the final price for the whole project.

The Specification Stage costs €500 to €1,500 (excluding VAT).
The exact amount depends on how complex your project looks after the free first call. We tell you that amount before you commit to anything.

The specification fixes the project price.
The specification states one final price for the entire project. That price doesn’t change, as long as the scope stays as specified.

If you hire us, up to 50% comes back.
If you go ahead with the project, we deduct up to 50% of what you paid for the Specification Stage from the project price.
For example: your Specification Stage costs €1,000. If you then hire us for the project, up to €500 comes off the project price.
The specification is yours to keep
A written document that covers:
- exactly what will be built: every product variable, rule, and output we agreed on
- the delivery timeline and project milestones
- the final, fixed price for the entire project
- the 12-month warranty against bugs in the code we deliver
The specification is worth having even if you don’t hire us. It’s a complete description of your product’s logic and of what the solution has to do. You can hand it to your own team or to another Grasshopper specialist, use it to get budget approved internally, or keep it for later.
What happens in the sessions
We meet in one or more sessions, by video or in person. Our team works through your product with yours: every variable, rule, and dependency, how the price is calculated, and which files your production needs. We know which questions to ask, but the specification can only be as complete as the information we get.
What to prepare
- The right people. Bring whoever knows the product best, in design, sales, or production.
- Your product data. 3D models or 2D technical drawings, and a spreadsheet with all product variables, price calculations, and geometric or product rules.
- The level of detail you expect. Decide internally how much of the product the parametric model needs to cover. This shapes the scope more than anything else.
Reviewing the specification
We present the specification in a free session and go through each milestone with you, so you can check that we’ve captured your product correctly. Small changes and clarifications are handled in that call. If you want to add a major new feature after that, we schedule another session to specify it.
You own what we build
You own everything we build
Everything we build for you is yours: the Grasshopper definition, and any code we write. You can keep working with us, bring development in-house, or hand it to another Grasshopper specialist. Nothing ties the solution to our services, only to the platform it runs on, and you can update it yourself whenever you like.

Our services team are computational designers and software developers, working alongside the people who build and run the ShapeDiver platform. Between them they bring backgrounds in software development, applied mathematics, rendering and materials, and complex architectural projects. When a definition needs to be faster, they know why it’s slow.

Questions about working with us
Do we need professional services to use ShapeDiver?
No. The platform is self-service, and most customers build their apps themselves.
What does the Specification Stage cost?
Between €500 and €1,500, depending on how complex your project is. We tell you the exact amount after the free first call.
Why is the Specification Stage paid?
Because it’s real work, and the result has value on its own: a complete specification of your product and a final price for the project. You can use it whoever ends up building the solution.
Can we use the specification without hiring you for the project?
Yes. Use it with your own team, with another Grasshopper specialist, or to get a budget approved.
Do we get the Specification Stage cost back if we go ahead?
Partly. If you hire us for the project, we deduct up to 50% of the Specification Stage price from the project price.
Is the project price really fixed?
Yes. The price in the specification is final for the scope it describes. If you want to add a major new feature later, we specify and price it separately.
What does the warranty cover?
Bugs in the code we deliver, for 12 months after the project.
Who owns the result?
You do: the Grasshopper definition and any code we write.
Do we need a ShapeDiver plan as well?
